What is BBA/BMS?

BBA stands for Bachelor of Business Administration and BMS stands for Bachelor of Management Studies. These two courses are more or less the same and some universities give the name as BBA and some universities give the name as BMS. However, as far as brand name is concerned BBA is better than BMS.

Both these courses are management courses, BMS course concentrates on analytical and logical oriented studies, while BBA course concentrates on core studies. Both the graduates of BBA and BMS can take up MBA after completion of the under graduation course or they can even take up management trainee position in a reputed company. As far as MBA is concerned graduates with BBA degree are given more preference as compared to students with BMS degree.

The increase in the demand for managers in India has made both these courses popular. Normally, students who have resolution to take up a career in management take up both these courses after completing their higher secondary education. Both these courses are being offered by different institutes in India. Some institutes conduct entrance examination for both these courses like MBA entrance. The only difference is the syllabus and difficulty level.

    BBA/BMS Eligibility

    • Candidates should have passed the 10+2 exams from a recognized education board by the university to which they are applying.
    • The general category aspirants should have scored a minimum of 50% marks as an eligibility condition for the BBA entrance exam while the SC/ST candidates should have a score of 45% at least.
    • Those students who have passed the 10+2 exams and the students with their 10+2 results awaited are also eligible for the BBA entrance exam.
    • NRI students who have passed their 10+2 exams or equivalent from foreign nations and are recognizable in India are also eligible for the BBA entrance exam.
    • For most of the colleges, the upper age limit for the BBA should not be more than 20 years, and for the reserved category, it is relaxed by 2 years. However, in some of the BBA colleges, no upper age limit is defined.

    BBA/BMS Admission Process in India

    The BBA/BMS admission process in India can differ from college to college. However, there are a few entrance exams you can give. These exams are national, state and university-level entrance exam that makes you eligible to get admission in different colleges for the BBA degree course

     

    1. SET –

    SET is the Symbiosis Entrance Test. It is a university-level exam conducted by the Symbiosis International University. It is mostly considered by symbiosis institutes.

     

    2. IPU CET –

    The IP University Common Entrance Test is an entrance exam considered by many colleges for BBA/BMS, along with other 60+ undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and research courses.

    3. AIMA UGAT –

    The AIMA Undergraduate Aptitude Test is a national-level entrance exam that is considered by most BBA/BMS colleges. This test is also used for many other undergrad degree courses.

     

    4. Direct Admissions –

    Many colleges also give direct admission for their BBA/BMS courses. They only consider your 12th standard percentage score. However, you have to ensure that college is AICTE approved for your BBA/BMS degree to have legitimacy.
